In this day and age, the internet has become an indispensable necessity let go of human life.
Starting from completing work, looking for study materials, or even just playing games.
The internet that you are currently using, whether it’s using a smartphone or a personal computer, requires supporting devices. Mstart from a device located in the service provider’s office that you use or a device installed in your home.
Okay, let’s start with the device installed in your house i.e router.
Definition and Function Router
Definition of Router It is a device that functions as a pengmanage network traffic computer. That’s where the data data from the server is routed to your smartphone or personal computer, busa via cable or wireless media.
In addition to functioning as an internet connection channel, router can also function as a regulator bandwidth connection for connected client devices.
In essence, this router regulates data traffic that is channeled to the end device (smartphone, laptop, computer).
Admins who have access to this router are free to give a speed limit of how many mb to each user. Or create some kind of wifi voucher and block a site.
So for example, router A is set to block the linux.or.id site, every device connected to router A’s IP cannot access the linux.or.id website.
Kinds of Router
When viewed from the designation, the router consists of 2 types. That is router for enterprise and to home user.
Router Enterprise
For enterprise routers, usually have greater power than routers for home users and are usually quite expensive.
Router home
Router for home users has less power than enterprise routers, equipped with additional features thatsupport the needs of home users such as file sharing features, printer sharing, and others.
TP-Link is one example of a home router that is often used by wifi customers in the housing environment. Surely you also already know, this router brand.
How Routers Work
First, when you log into a network, the router will give local IP address to connect to the internet.
Second, when you open a website, the router will translate the site name you type into an IP address.
Third, requests from clients will be forwarded to the destination website server with routing and NAT features.
Final, the server will pass the site data to the router and then forward it to the client. Until here the website can be opened.
If you want to communicate with a device that is on the same network as you, the process will be much shorter.
That’s my article about meaning, function, type Router and how it works.
Hopefully this article is useful for you.
